In a deep tissue massage, the therapist uses a deeper level of touch to address specific areas of chronic tension and holding. These techniques are integrated into a Swedish Massage, creating a seamless blend of soothing relaxation and deep pressure. This can be especially useful in areas that have not fully recovered from an old injury and/or the body’s compensations, and in areas that are under chronic strain from computer usage, athletics or stress.

The therapist checks throughout the session to ensure the pressure is adjusted to a comfortable level, never deeper than what is supportive, yet deep enough to be effective. After a session, there is usually a feeling of relaxation, of freedom from bothersome aches, increased mobility, and relief that a painful area was addressed thoroughly and successfully.
