Acupressure stimulates specific points along the body’s energy pathways (called meridians) through the application of static finger pressure. The therapist holds these points for varying lengths of time, keeping the pressure at a level that is comfortable to the recipient. Balancing these Acupressure points and meridians can effectively relieve many symptoms such as migraines, allergies, musculoskeletal complaints, and a weak immune system. It is relaxing, stress-relieving, and rejuvenating as well. Acupressure can be integrated into a massage or done as a stand-alone treatment for which the client usually remains clothed.
We offer two kinds of Acupressure: Shiatsu and Jin Shin Do. The techniques are very similar, differing only in how long the points are held, how many points are held at a time, the order in which the points are held and the amount of pressure used.
