Evelyn Clark
After a stressful period of her life Evelyn was looking for some way to relax and came upon an ad for a women’s massage therapy workshop. She knew nothing about massage. She never thought about or was exposed to it in any way. But it appealed to her and she attended the 8 weeks of classes which she ended up repeating continuously for several years. Even then her motivation was personal without a thought of exploring massage therapy as a profession.
When her office management job ended and she was at a turning point she decided to pursue massage as a career and attended Ananda School of Massage in Cambridge, MA. After practicing privately for a while she opened her own massage therapy center called Repose, on Newbury Street in downtown Boston, which she ran successfully for 17 years.
In 1998 Evelyn and her husband moved to Santa Fe. She took a professional sabbatical and deepened her studies of body work at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. In 2004 she came to High Desert where she has practiced ever since. Evelyn has trained in all aspects of massage therapy but her style remains simple and direct, built on a foundation of Swedish Massage to create a rich and varied touch experience. Deep Tissue Massage is blended into the treatment to address more specific and problematic tensions in the body. Evelyn is a certified Reflexologist (Hand and Foot Reflexology) and offers stand alone sessions for relaxation and renewal as well as a series of treatments designed to address more chronic issues.
Watching clients leave their massage therapy sessions lighter and brighter keeps this work new and rewarding even though I have been doing it most of my adult life. I feel grateful to have a profession that brings comfort and rejuvenation to people.”
