Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy is the utilization of static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve chronic pain. This technique further manipulates the soft tissue of the body – muscles, tendon, and connective tissue – to balance the central nervous system, improve range of motion disorders, and restore normal soft tissue mobilization.
In healthy individual, nerves transmit impulses (which are responsible for every movement, function, thought, and overall health) to the body. Injury, trauma, postural distortion and stress cause nerves to speed up their transmission to the body and inhibiting equilibrium and making the body vulnerable to pain and dysfunction.
Neuromuscular Therapy addresses six physiological factors that may create or intensify pain matters. The factors are:
- Ischemia
- Trigger Points
- Nerve entrapment/compression
- Postural Distortions
- Nutrition
- Emotional Wellbeing
